New-Patient Questions

The first appointment includes a detailed health history, consultation, physical examination, movement and orthopedic testing, and any necessary X-rays when clinically appropriate. The doctor uses these findings to determine the best treatment plan for you.

Current Chiropractic generally uses a two-visit new-patient process. The first visit focuses on the consultation and examination. During the second visit, the doctor reviews the findings, explains recommendations, and discusses the proposed treatment plan.

An adjustment may not be performed during the first appointment. The doctors first complete the examination and review the findings so they can determine whether an adjustment is appropriate and which treatment approach is safest.

A new-patient evaluation generally takes approximately 30 minutes. Patients should arrive early if they have not completed their paperwork online.

Please bring a photo ID, your insurance card if you plan to use insurance, and any relevant imaging reports or medical records.

Yes. Bring any previous X-rays, MRI reports, CT reports, or other relevant medical records. These documents may help the doctor better understand your health history and determine whether additional imaging is necessary.

Patients do not need a referral to schedule a chiropractic appointment.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily during the examination. Athletic clothing, loose-fitting pants, or shorts are usually appropriate.

Financial Questions

Yes. Current Chiropractic works with certain insurance plans and also accepts self-pay patients. Coverage depends on the patient’s specific plan and benefits.

Current Chiropractic is in-network with BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, and United Healthcare. The office also works with other plans out of network depending on the patient’s benefits and coverage.

The office verifies chiropractic benefits using the insurance information provided by the patient. Verification may include deductible information, copays, coinsurance, visit limits, and other plan requirements.

If insurance is inactive, the office will explain the available self-pay options. Patients may also contact their insurance carrier to correct or update their coverage information.

Yes. Self-pay options are available for patients without insurance, patients with inactive coverage, or patients who choose not to use insurance.

The current new-patient special includes the initial consultation, examination, and any necessary X-rays. It also includes the follow-up visit where the doctor reviews the findings and recommendations. Any additional services should be confirmed with the office before scheduling.

Clinical Questions

Yes. Current Chiropractic takes digital X-rays in the office when the doctor determines that imaging is clinically appropriate. Not every patient requires X-rays.

Imaging may be recommended when the patient’s history or examination suggests a possible fracture, significant trauma, neurological involvement, structural abnormality, advanced degeneration, or another condition that requires further evaluation.

Yes. Many pregnant patients receive chiropractic care. Treatment is modified based on the stage of pregnancy, the patient’s symptoms, and examination findings. Dr. Hannah Schiltz is certified in the Webster Technique.

In many cases, yes. A disc bulge does not automatically prevent someone from receiving chiropractic care. The doctor will review the patient’s symptoms, neurological findings, imaging, and medical history to determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate.

No. Back pain can come from many different causes, and chiropractic care is not appropriate for every condition. The examination helps determine whether the pain appears musculoskeletal or whether medical evaluation, imaging, or referral is needed.

Visit frequency is based on the patient’s diagnosis, symptom severity, examination findings, activity limitations, health history, and response to care. Recommendations are individualized rather than based on a single schedule for every patient.

Mild soreness or stiffness can occur after an adjustment, especially during the first few visits or when an area has not moved normally for a long time. This discomfort is usually temporary.

Immediate medical evaluation may be necessary for symptoms such as severe trauma, suspected fracture, chest pain, difficulty breathing, sudden weakness, loss of coordination, new bowel or bladder dysfunction, numbness in the groin or saddle region, signs of stroke, unexplained fever, or rapidly worsening symptoms.
